Azerbaijan Carpet Museum

A building shaped like a rolled carpet holding the world’s richest collection of Azerbaijani rugs — history, knot by knot.

A building shaped like a rolled carpet holding the world’s richest collection of Azerbaijani rugs — history, knot by knot. The collection is built for unhurried viewing: each hall tells its own story and introduces one more layer of Azerbaijani culture.

Alongside the permanent exhibition there are temporary shows, guided tours and educational programmes for children. Guided visits can be booked in advance; check the photography rules at the entrance.

Azerbaijan Carpet Museum is in Baku at Mikayıl Hüseynov prospekti 28. Entry is inexpensive (level ₼). Many museums close on Mondays — check opening hours before you go, and allow one to two hours for a full visit.
